CITYCHATT GLOBAL PRIVACY POLICY
Effective Date: February 20, 2026 Version 1.0.0
1. Introduction
CityChatt, Inc. (“CityChatt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a real-time, city-based communication platform that enables users to connect within geographic communities. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, process, disclose, transfer, retain, and safeguard personal information when you access or use the CityChatt mobile application, website, APIs, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).
We are committed to maintaining user trust through transparency, accountability, and compliance with applicable global privacy and data protection laws. This Privacy Policy applies to users worldwide unless a region-specific addendum applies.
By accessing or using the Service, you acknowledge that your information will be processed as described in this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly to us, information collected automatically through your use of the Service, and information obtained from third parties where permitted by law.
Information you provide may include your name, username, email address, profile details, city preferences, posts, comments, threads, replies, private messages, uploaded media, and communications with our support team. Draft messages may be temporarily stored to prevent data loss due to crashes or interruptions.
When you use the Service, we automatically collect certain technical and usage information, including your IP address, device identifiers, operating system, application version, browser type, language settings, time zone, session activity, crash reports, and engagement data. Because CityChatt organizes discussions geographically, we may collect location-related information derived from GPS signals, IP-based mapping, Wi-Fi triangulation, or similar technologies, depending on your device settings and permissions.
We may also collect behavioral and interaction signals such as scroll velocity, dwell time, typing cadence, thread engagement patterns, and moderation history to maintain platform integrity, prevent abuse, detect fraud, and improve user experience.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve the Service. This includes enabling location-based thread organization, facilitating real-time messaging, ranking content, personalizing city feeds, and maintaining account functionality.
Information is used to detect spam, prevent fraud, investigate suspicious behavior, enforce our Terms of Service, and protect users from harassment, exploitation, or illegal conduct. We may also use information for analytics, internal research, system troubleshooting, feature development, and performance optimization.
We may create aggregated or de-identified datasets for research, safety analysis, and product improvement. Such datasets are not intended to identify individual users.
CityChatt does not sell personal information in exchange for monetary compensation. Where applicable law categorizes certain transfers as “sharing,” users may have the right to opt out as described below.
4. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
CityChatt may use information collected through the Service to develop, train, evaluate, and improve artificial intelligence and machine learning systems that support the operation, safety, and enhancement of the platform.
These systems assist with content moderation, spam detection, fraud prevention, abuse detection, ranking algorithms, language processing, geographic relevance determination, personalization features, and overall platform security. Training inputs may include user-generated content, engagement signals, metadata, and contextual interaction data.
Where feasible and appropriate, we apply safeguards such as data minimization, aggregation, redaction, pseudonymization, or de-identification prior to inclusion in AI training processes. Certain contextual signals may be necessary to ensure effective moderation and safety detection.
Private messages are not used for AI model training except where necessary to detect abuse, enforce safety standards, comply with legal obligations, investigate violations, or improve platform integrity systems.
We do not license or sell identifiable personal information to third parties for the purpose of training their independent artificial intelligence systems.
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to object to or limit certain forms of automated processing, including aspects of AI-related processing, subject to applicable legal limitations.
5. Legal Bases for Processing (EEA, UK, Switzerland)
For users located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases: performance of a contract, legitimate interests, compliance with legal obligations, or user consent where required.
Legitimate interests may include maintaining platform security, preventing fraud, improving features, protecting users, enforcing agreements, and ensuring service reliability. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw consent at any time, subject to legal and operational constraints.
6. How We Share Information
We may share information with service providers that perform services on our behalf, including cloud infrastructure providers, analytics vendors, fraud prevention partners, security consultants, and customer support platforms. These service providers are contractually obligated to safeguard information and process it solely under our instructions.
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent harm, investigate illegal activity, enforce our policies, or protect the rights and safety of users or the public.
In the event of a merger, acquisition, financing transaction, restructuring, or sale of assets, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
We do not publicly disclose private communications except where required for legal compliance, safety enforcement, or investigation of violations.
7. International Data Transfers
CityChatt operates globally and may transfer and process information in the United States or other countries where we or our service providers operate. These jurisdictions may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country.
Where required by law, we implement safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other recognized mechanisms to ensure adequate protection during international data transfers.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, and maintain security.
Retention periods vary depending on the type of data, regulatory requirements, and safety considerations. Deleted accounts are generally purged within a reasonable period unless retention is required for abuse prevention, litigation, compliance, or investigation purposes. Security logs and metadata may be retained for longer periods to protect system integrity.
9. Data Security
We implement technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, misuse, alteration, loss, or disclosure. These measures may include encryption in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, multi-factor authentication, internal auditing procedures, logging systems, and monitoring for suspicious activity.
Despite these efforts, no digital transmission or storage system can guarantee absolute security.
10. Children’s Privacy
CityChatt is not directed to children under 13 years of age or the minimum digital consent age in applicable jurisdictions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the permitted age. If we become aware of such collection, we will take appropriate steps to delete the information.
We use automated and manual systems to detect child exploitation risks and report confirmed violations to relevant authorities where required by law.
11. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information. These rights may include access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and data portability.
Residents of California and certain other U.S. states may have additional rights under applicable state privacy laws, including the right to know what information is collected, the right to request deletion, the right to correct inaccurate information, the right to limit use of sensitive personal information, and the right to opt out of certain data sharing practices.
Residents of the European Union, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other jurisdictions may exercise similar statutory rights under local law. We will not discriminate against users for exercising legally protected privacy rights.
To submit a privacy request, you may contact us using the information provided below. We may verify your identity before fulfilling requests to protect user security.
12. Automated Decision-Making and Profiling
CityChatt uses automated systems to rank threads, recommend content, detect spam, flag potential policy violations, and assess trust indicators. These systems are designed to improve safety and user experience.
Where required by law, users may request human review of certain automated decisions that significantly affect them.
13. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to operate the Service, maintain session integrity, analyze usage patterns, prevent fraud, and enhance performance. You may manage certain tracking preferences through your browser or device settings, though disabling certain technologies may affect functionality.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in legal requirements, technology, or business practices. Where required by law, we will provide notice of material updates before they become effective. Continued use of the Service after updates constitutes acknowledgment of the revised policy.
